The original table was severely neglected and in bad shape. The trim was shot the legs and base structure was in pieces with chipped paint all over it. The original formica on top was marred and discolored. I left the original stamp area on the underside revealed – – “140 COFFEE TABLE” and was made in California with the stamp “Union Made” by a local number that I can’t make out.
I manipulated each and every piece of yardstick covering the top of this table. Either by distressing, coloring, “beating”, etc. Some older yardsticks didn’t need any help at all. The base has three coats of Annie Sloan chalk paint with three coats of poly finish. The side is silver paint with three coats of poly finish. The top has five coats of poly with sanding in between for a smoother finish.
