24+ Hilarious Comics That Capture My Life With Two Cheeky Cats

Cats have the cute appeal of resembling stuffed animals, but ask any cat owner what it’s like to own one of these adorable creatures and they will tell you the reality is not always so cuddly. I am Vernessa Himmler, an illustrator, and sand-artist based in Hamburg, Germany. Since early 2013 I have worked as a freelance illustrator and one of my recent illustration projects is a series of comics that show people the hilarious and crazy life of being a cat owner.

I’ve been drawing since my childhood and received a masters degree in illustration from HAW Hamburg – Design Department. Over the years I have developed my own visual language, which consists of realistic fine drawings and modern coloration. I started drawing my cat comics only two years ago, inspired by my two white cats Mikosch and Koschka, who I adopted from a local animal shelter a few years back.

I began creating cat comics on Instagram to share my life as a crazy cat lady and the awkward and funny moments of my two cat, and while many of my comics depict the headaches cats can bring, they are still such wonderful pets. My favorite thing about cats is the moment when they want your attention (for a cuddle or something else), it makes you extremely happy when they chose to come to you on their own!

Scroll down below to see some of my illustrations from a day in the life of a cat owner and for all the cat parents out remember, you don’t own your cat, your cat owns you!”
