Photographer Maja Smend, food stylist Kim Morphew and prop stylist Lydia Brunset were recently commissioned by Art Fund, to recreate iconic pieces of art out of food to promote a new fundraising initiative that encourages art lovers to create edible masterpieces. The event asks participants to whip up an edible creation inspired by a favourite work of art, with recommended recipes including a Mondrian-inspired battenberg, a Jackson Pollock themed crispy treat, Wedgwood-inspired shortbread and a Damien Hirst-inspired skull cake. All the art in the photographs is edible, either handcrafted from cake, biscuits and sugar cubes.
